ATLANTA, GA (TheSpread) – The 2011 SEC Tournament should be competitive with a field of plenty of contenders, and the tournament gets underway on Thursday.

This 12-team tournament begins on Thursday with four opening round games. The four winners advance to the quarterfinals with the top four teams. The title game takes place on Sunday. The seeding for this tournament is based on division finish with the top two teams in each division getting byes and each opening round game featuring an East vs. West matchup.

Kentucky enters the tournament as the favorite according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com as the Wildcats has 5/4 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Florida (3/2) and Vanderbilt (4/1).

The three favorites all come from the East. Florida won the division with a 13-3 SEC record and a 24-6 overall record. Florida holds the No. 1 seed from the East. Florida has won three SEC tournaments, with the last coming in 2007.

Kentucky went 10-6 in SEC play and is 22-8 overall. The Wildcats are the No. 2 seed out of the east. Kentucky has won 26 SEC Tournaments, most of any school in the conference. Kentucky is also the defending tournament champion.

Vandy went 9-7 in conference play and 21-9 overall. Vanderbilt will be the No. 3 East seed and play a first round game against LSU. Vanderbilt has only one the SEC Tournament one time, in 1951.
