DALLAS (AP) – LeBron James averaged what for him would be considered a modest 22 points in his first NBA finals appearance. His scoring numbers are lower this time around.
He couldn’t care less.
Only James could have a 17-point, nine-assist effort like the one he turned in for the Miami Heat in their Game 3 win of the NBA finals be considered a bad night. Since December, when he has at least that many points and that many assists, the Heat are 15-1.
Cliche as it may be, James and the Heat insist the only stat that matters now is getting to four wins. They’re halfway there, and would get within one victory of the NBA title if they win Game 4 in Dallas on Tuesday night.
