Jazz warming up
While Utah has struggled most of the season, the Jazz have won four of their last five following a 118-91 win over the Rockets on Thursday. Utah also had a 139-105 win at home over the Spurs last week. The Jazz are 13-13 on the season, 9-7 on the road, 13-13 against the spread and 16-10 with the over.
Utah is not a great offensive team, as the Jazz are putting up just 107.4 points per game while shooting only 33.5 percent from the arc. When it comes to defense, Utah is allowing only 107.2 points per game. Donovan Mitchell is leading the Jazz this season with 20.6 points and 3.5 assists per game while Rudy Gobert is adding 15.0 points and 12.4 rebounds per contest.
Spurs seek consistency
The San Antonio Spurs are coming off a 133-120 win at home over the Lakers to avenge a road loss from earlier in the week. The Spurs haven’t won back-to-back games in over a month. San Antonio is now 12-14 on the season, 8-4 at home, 12-13-1 against the spread and 17-8-1 with the over.
The Spurs are a mess on defense this year, giving up 114.0 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 48.5 percent from the field and 36.9 percent from the arc. On offense, San Antonio is putting up 110.3 points per game while shooting 38.2 percent from 3-point land. The team continues to be without Paul Gasol, who is dealing with a foot injury. DeMar DeRozan is leading the team with 24.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game while LaMarcus Aldridge is adding 18.1 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Utah
The Jazz are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games playing on two days of rest and 4-1 ATS in their last five against the Southwest Division.
San Antonio
The Spurs are 17-7 ATS in their last 24 home games and 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a win.
Prediction:
Utah earned a 139-105 win over the Spurs in Utah just a few days ago. The Spurs were able to avenge a loss at Los Angeles on Friday with a win over the Lakers at home. Can they do the same today? The Jazz should have a motivated Rudy Gobert, as he suffered a very quick ejection on Thursday night. He should be hungry to put up a big game. The Spurs haven’t shown any ability to string together wins, so I expect another lackluster showing tonight at home against a Jazz team that finally seems to be clicking. I will go with the road favorite in this one.
NBA Prediction: Utah Jazz -3.5
