Spurs’ championship odds rising
SAN ANTONIO, TX (The Spread) – The Spurs are on the verge of signing LaMarcus Aldridge and oddsmakers are adjusting San Antonio’s 2016 NBA Finals odds.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reports that Aldridge will sign a four-year, $80 million deal with the Spurs, who will be a formidable opponent again next year. Tim Duncan will likely slide over to center to make room for Aldridge, who averaged 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.0 blocked shots per game last year with the Blazers.
With this move, the Spurs have gone from 10/1 to win the 2016 NBA Finals to 9/2 according to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets. The only team with better odds to win next year’s NBA title is the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are 3/1 favorites.
San Antonio will have a perfect mix of younger and veteran talent heading into next year. Aldridge now joins Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Danny Green and rising star Kawhi Leonard. Coach Gregg Popovich is also a master when it comes to resting his starters down the stretch so that they’re rested for the playoffs. Aldridge is seeming a terrific fit with the Spurs.
