Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Pacers are 4.5-point favorites to beat the Magic. The total, meanwhile, sits at 211.5 points and as of this writing, 64% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Pacers to cover the point spread.
Orlando Magic Fantasy Spin
Aaron Gordon made 9-of-15 from the field and 2-of-2 for 22 points during a 103-96 win over the Warriors, adding 15 rebounds, three assists, one block and two 3-pointers. It’s back-to-back games with more than 20 points for Gordon for the first time in over a month and just third time all season. Maybe, just maybe, he could be getting it going at the right time, but all season it’s been a bumpy ride. All his owners can do is just throw him in their lineups and hope he avoids the duds. The upside is there, especially with the Magic competing for a playoff spot.
Indiana Pacers Fantasy Spin
Myles Turner had a night to forget against the Timberwolves, scoring just three points on 1-of-4 shooting along with one rebound, one steal and one 3-pointer in only 23 minutes. Turner’s saving grace on Thursday was his six blocks, which mark a new season-high and also tied his career-high. He battled foul trouble for most of the night in his battle against Karl-Anthony Towns. Turner was playing well prior to sustaining a hip injury in practice right before the team came back from the All-Star break, but has struggled since returning and scored fewer than 10 points in two of his three games. Hopefully he’s just a bit rusty after having an extending time off and bounces back in short order.
NBA Betting Trends
Orlando
The Magic are 4-0 against the number in their last four games when facing an opponent with a winning record.
Indiana
The Pacers have covered the spread in seven straight games when playing at home against a team with a losing road record.
Prediction
The Magic are fighting for a spot in the top eight of the Eastern Conference and have knocked off some of the better teams in the NBA recently. There’s no reason to believe the Magic won’t show up tonight in Indiana. Even though the Pacers have played very well at home this season (24-8 straight up and 19-13 against the spread), the Magic have played too many quality opponents tight to fade them now. At 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, I see plenty of value in underdog Orlando tonight.
