Pistons vs. Hawks Pick
Are the Detroit Pistons going to snap their seven-game losing streak tonight when they play at the Atlanta Hawks? Tip-off is at 7:30PM ET.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Pistons are a 4-point favorite on the spread line. The over-under is set at 207 points.
Detroit comes in with a 14-13 record and 16-9-2 ATS after a 103-84 home loss to the Nuggets, its seventh consecutive defeat. Atlanta is 6-21 overall and 14-12-1 ATS following a 123-114 loss at the Cavaliers. The Pistons won the first meeting this season by a count of 111-104 on Nov. 10 in Detroit. The Pistons are 3-1 straight up and 2-2 ATS in four meetings since the start of last season. The over is 4-0.
In the loss to Denver, Langston Galloway led the way with 18 points and two rebounds off the bench. He connected on 5-of-7 from 3-point range. Boban Marjanovic contributed 14 points, five boards and two assists off the bench. Reggie Jackson added 12 points, four rebounds and two assists. Detroit trailed by nine at halftime and were outscored 31-20 in the third quarter.
Atlanta was paced by Taurean Prince with 24 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the loss at Cleveland. Kent Bazemore registered 20 points, eight rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocked shots. Dennis Schroder added 14 points and five assists. The Hawks allowed the Cavaliers to connect on 20-of-38 from 3-point range. The Hawks trailed 94-77 through three quarters.
Detroit is 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings. The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings in Atlanta and 4-0 in the last four meetings overall.
Detroit was probably never as good as its record through the first 20 games this season, but there is no reason it should be experiencing a seven-game losing skid either. The Pistons have played the NBA’s toughest schedule thus far and many of the games during the losing streak have been close, but the most recent two are a 10-point home loss to Boston and the 19-point home defeat against the Nuggets. This could be a get-well spot for Detroit against a weak opponent, albeit on its home floor. Atlanta has struggled mightily to defend the interior since the injuries to Dwayne Dedmon and John Collins. Although Collins is questionable tonight, he’ll likely be on a minutes restriction. Expect Andre Drummond to dominate the interior, while the Pistons take advantage as well of Atlanta’s shoddy perimeter defense.
