Mavericks win the West

(TheSpread) – The Dallas Mavericks won their second NBA Western Conference Championship in franchise history on Wednesday night to advance to the 2011 NBA Finals.

The Mavericks closed out the Oklahoma City Thunder in the conference finals in five games, closing out the series with a pair of fourth-quarter comebacks.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com the Mavericks had odds of 15/2 to win the Western Conference entering the playoffs, meaning a $100 wager on Dallas will pay out an additional $750.

The Mavericks went on a major run to reach the NBA Finals, as Dallas has now won 10 of its last 11 games and its last five road games in the playoffs.

Dallas began its playoff run with a 6-game win over the Portland Trail Blazers. The third-seeded Mavericks won the first two and last two games of the series to move on to the second round.

In the conference semifinals, the Mavericks quickly disposed of the two-time defending NBA Champion, the L.A. Lakers. Dallas won the series in four games, including the first two games in Los Angeles.
