Mavericks vs. Lakers Odds
(TheSpread) – The L.A. Lakers and Dallas Mavericks kick off what should be a competitive second round series in the 2011 NBA Playoffs on Sunday.
The Lakers are the No. 2 seed in the West and they are coming off a first round series win over New Orleans in six games. Dallas is the No. 3 seed in the West and the Mavs beat Portland in six games in the opening round.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com the Lakers are the favorites to win the series with odds of -380 while Dallas has a money line of +290.
The Lakers fell behind 1-0 on their series with New Orleans, but then won four of the final five games in the series. Los Angeles had all of its wins come by 9 points or more. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers in the series, averaging 22.5 points per game.
Dallas defeated Portland in six games thanks to a key road win in Game 6. It was the only road win in the entire series. The Mavericks were led in the series by Dirk Nowitzki, who averaged 27.3 points per game while shooting 44 percent from 3-point land and 88.9 percent from the free throw line.
These two teams have played three times this season and Los Angeles won two of the three games. The Lakers won the final two games in the series and also covered in both contests.
Trends show that the road team has covered the spread in 12 of the last 16 games in this series while the Lakers have covered in their last 7 games against Southwest Division opponents.
In terms of injuries, Dallas forward Caron Butler is out until the middle of May with a knee injury while Lakers forward Devin Ebanks is out indefinitely with a leg injury.
