Griffin returns, Pistons lose

Detroit fell by a score of 120-114 at home against Minnesota Monday night to drop to 4-7 overall and 3-3 at home. The Pistons trailed 41-26 after one quarter of play and were unable to recover. Luke Kennard led Detroit with 25 points on 8-of-17 shooting including 4-of-9 from 3-point range plus 5-of-5 at the free throw line. Blake Griffin tallied 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists in his return to action from injury. He also contributed seven rebounds and two assists. Langston Galloway accounted for 18 points and two assists off the bench. Tony Snell registered 16 points and three assists. Andre Drummond had 11 points, 12 boards, four steals and three blocked shots. Markieff Morris added 10 points, six rebounds and two assists off the bench. 

Heat stumble at Lakers

Miami fell 95-80 Friday night at Los Angeles to drop to 6-3 overall and 3-3 on the road. Miami was outscored 47-33 in the second half of the defeat. Jimmy Butler paced the Heat with 22 points on 7-of-16 shooting plus 8-of-8 at the free throw line. He also recorded six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Goran Dragic accounted for 19 points, seven dimes and six boards off the bench. Bam Adebayo accumulated 11 points, nine caroms, four assists and three steals. Kendrick Nunn added 10 points, three rebounds and two steals.

Prediction:

Detroit is on a back-to-back with travel and both Griffin plus Derrick Rose have just returned from injury. If they couldn't get it done at home against a T-Wolves team also on a back-to-back, I don't like their chances against a Miami squad playing good ball so far this season. The Heat haven't lost at home yet and I see that continuing with a convincing win here.
