Dwight Howard Free Agency Odds
(The Spread) – With free agency almost upon us in the NBA, all eyes are on Dwight Howard and where he’ll play next season.
What team will Howard play game one of the 2013 NBA regular season for? According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Rockets are favored at +140, while the Lakes are +180 and the Mavericks are +300. The Hawks, meanwhile, are +950 while the Warriors have the longest odds at +1000.
The Hawks met with Howard on Monday of this week and it reportedly went well according to ESPN.com. That said, the Hawks remain a dark horse in the race for Howard, who is expected to make a decision on July 10.
“Inside the Warriors” also reports that Golden State is eager to acquire Howard via sign-and-trade and is reportedly willing to offer the Lakers a package of Andrew Bogut with either Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes. The Warriors would prefer to trade Bogut and the expiring deals of Richard Jefferson or Andris Biedrins, but the Lakers hasn’t shown much interest in a sign-and-trade.
Meanwhile, the Rockets put together a dinner presentation for Howard at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, which centered on the team’s championship potential. Yao Ming reportedly talked to Howard via Skype and joined the likes of owner Les Alexander, GM Daryl Morey, coach Kevin McHale, Chandler Parsons, Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler. No wonder the odds favor Houston.
