Grizzlies struggling on offense

The Memphis Grizzlies are riding a three-game losing streak right now following a 100-92 loss at Charlotte on Friday. Memphis is 20-33 on the season, 8-19 on the road, 22-31 against the spread and 33-20 with the under.

Memphis has the league’s worst offense, but one of the strongest defenses in the league. The Grizzlies allow just 103.7 points per game, but the offense puts up only 100.4 points per game while shooting just 45 percent as a team. The team has a laundry list of injuries and Mike Conley is questionable to play today due to a knee injury while Jaren Jackson Jr. is probable to play after missing the last game with a quad injury. Conley is averaging 20.2 points and 6.3 assists per game this season while Marc Gasol is adding 15.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

Knicks on 12-game skid

New York is on a 12-game losing streak following a 113-99 loss at home to Boston on Friday. The Knicks have failed to cover in four of their last five as well. New York is now 10-41 overall, 4-19 at home, 22-28-1 against the spread and 26-25 with the under.

The Knicks are struggling on both sides of the court, as they allow 115 points per game on defense while scoring just 106.1 per game on offense and shooting a league-worst 43.1 percent from the field. The Knicks just recently traded for DeAndre Jordan, Wesley Matthews and Dennis Smith Jr. from the Mavs and all three are expected to be available today. Emmanuel Mudiay is still out with his shoulder injury. Mudiay was averaging 14.7 points per game this season. Enes Kanter is the team’s active leader with 14 points and 10.5 rebounds per contest.

Prediction:

This game is a hard one to call, as we don’t know what to expect of the Knicks with their new players. It will take some time for them all to develop some chemistry. Clearly, New York is in tank mode and hoping to get the top pick in the NBA Draft. Memphis isn’t quite in full tank mode, as they would be a little late to the party. The Grizzlies have been able to keep games low scoring and I think that will be the case today. Memphis’ defense should be the difference today to carry the Grizz to the carry.
