Knicks on a massive skid

The Knicks are coming off a 129-97 loss at Utah on Saturday for their seventh straight defeat. They have failed to cover in their last six games. New York is 9-28 on the season, 5-16 on the road, 15-21-1 against the spread and 21-16 with the over.

New York has really struggled on defense this season, allowing 115.9 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.9 percent from the field. Offensively, New York is putting up 107.5 points per game, but shooting just 43.3 percent from the field. Enes Kanter has been battling a back injury, but is expected to play tonight. Kanter is averaging 14.3 points and 10.6 rebounds per contest. Tim Hardaway Jr. is leading the team with 20.7 points per game.

Nuggets seeking third straight win

Denver is coming off a 122-118 win at Phoenix. They have won their last two games, but have failed to cover the spread in four straight games. Denver is now 23-11 on the season, 14-3 at home, 19-15 against the spread and 20-13-1 with the under.

The Nuggets have one of the best defensive teams in the NBA, allowing just 104.7 points per game while holding opponents to just 32.5 percent from the arc. Offensively, Denver is putting up 109.9 points per game while shooting 46.4 percent from the floor. Injuries have piled up over time for the Nuggets. Gary Harris may be able to return tonight despite a hip injury that has kept him out for weeks. Jamal Murray has been leading the team with 18.6 points per game while Nikola Jokic is adding 18.0 points, 9.8 rebounds and 7.4 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

New York

The Knicks are just 2-6 against the spread in their last eight road games and 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games following a loss.

Denver

The Nuggets are 7-1 against the spread in their last eight home games and 5-0 ATS in their last five games on two days rest.

Prediction:

The Knicks haven’t been competitive over their last seven games. Six of them have been by at least 11 points and five by 14 or more. The Nuggets haven’t been able to cover lately, but they have been playing much better competition than the Knicks. Denver is at home, possibly getting a weapon back, and the trends support them in a cover. It’s a big spread, but I will take my chances with Denver.

NBA Prediction: Denver Nuggets -13.5
