KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -The Kansas City Royals have extended general manager Dayton Moore’s contract through 2014.
Despite one of the team’s most disappointing seasons in years, Royals owner David Glass said two weeks ago that Moore and manager Trey Hillman would remain. Glass kept his word Monday, extending Moore’s contract three years after the general manager exercised his option for 2011.
Terms were not disclosed.
With high expectations and a renovated ballpark, the Royals got off to a great start this season, leading the AL Central after the first month. Kansas City went into a tailspin after that and now has the second-worst record in baseball at 50-80.
