ATLANTA (AP) – Braves catcher Brian McCann appeared to strain his lower left side while throwing to second base and has left Tuesday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
McCann grabbed his left side and lower back in obvious pain after he threw high as Neil Walker stole second base in the 10th inning on Tuesday night.
David Ross replaced McCann in the game after trainer Jeff Porter came on the field to confer with McCann. McCann made a couple of test throws to pitcher Scott Linebrink before leaving the game.
The Braves said McCann is being examined for a left side injury.
