WASHINGTON (AP) – Marlins first baseman Casey Kotchman has left Miami’s game at Washington with what appeared to be a left hamstring injury.
Kotchman clutched at the back of his upper left leg as he ran through first base when he grounded into a double play in the fifth inning Wednesday night, when the gametime temperature was 45 degrees. After crossing the bag, he tumbled to the ground.
Kotchman hobbled across the diamond to the visiting dugout. In the bottom of the fifth, Greg Dobbs replaced him in the field at first.
The 30-year-old Kotchman is in his first season with Miami, his seventh major league club across 10 years.
