Marlins vs. Nationals Pick
Can the Washington Nationals and Miami Marlins find enough pop in their bats to go over the total when they meet today at 4:05PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Nationals are favored at home this afternoon, as they are getting odds of -220 to win. Miami is listed with a money line of +200 to prevail, while the over/under total has been set at 8.5 runs.

The pitching matchup in this game has Adam Conley (6-5, 5.17 ERA) on the mound for the Marlins to face Stephen Strasburg (10-4, 3.10) of the Nationals. Conley has struggled in recent starts, allowing at least three runs in four of his last five outings. Conley has 59 strikeouts this season to go with 29 walks and a 1.39 WHIP. Strasburg is coming off a 6-inning scoreless start. He has allowed two runs over 12 innings since returning from the DL. He has 156 strikeouts this year to go with 39 walks and a 1.08 WHIP.
Washington has won the first two games in this series. The Nationals picked up an 11-2 win on Monday and an 8-3 victory on Tuesday. The Nationals have won four straight over Miami and the two have hit the over in four of their last five meetings. Washington is now 80-51 overall, 39-27 at home and 63-62 with the under. Miami is 66-65 overall, 31-36 on the road and 68-56 with the over.
Tuesday’s game saw the Nationals continue to beat up on Miami pitching. Washington posted five runs on Vance Worley in just 4.1 innings. Edwin Jackson lasted six innings for the Nationals, and gave up only two earned runs. Anthony Rendon had two hits and drove in four runs to lead Washington at the plate. Daniel Murphy added two hits and two RBI. Giancarlo Stanton hit his 51st home run of the season in the loss, driving in his 110th run of the season as well.
The trends have been with the over in this series and I like that to hit today as well. Conley has been allowing multiple runs in his starts and Strasburg is still coming back off an injury. He could be strong today, but I can see Miami posting a few runs. Even if the Marlins don’t have success at the plate, Washington has been mashing the ball in this series and Conley isn’t going to be the man to change that.
