Nationals vs. Padres Monday Prediction

The Washington Nationals are playing better ball of late, winners of seven of their last 10. They’re slowly starting to get healthier as well as they head out to San Diego to start a new series against the Padres on Monday night. Will they take Game 1 with Stephen Strasburg on the hill?

Nationals’ Strasburg allows three runs in win over Pirates

Stephen Strasburg allowed three runs — two earned — and struck out 11 batters in seven innings to snare a win versus the Pirates on Wednesday. He issued just one free pass and yielded seven knocks, including a solo homer by catcher Francisco Cervelli. It was a nice bounce-back effort after he gave up five runs to the Diamondbacks in his last start. Strasburg improves to 3-3 with a 3.47 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in seven starts. He has an excellent 54:11 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 46 2/3 innings.

Padres’ Ross strikes out nine in no-decision vs. Giants

Tyson Ross allowed one earned run, four hits and three walks with nine strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision Tuesday in San Francisco. Ross threw 64 of his 102 pitches for strikes to lower his ERA to 3.28. He has managed four quality starts in six outings, and the only two times he didn’t post one came at Coors Field against the Rockies on April 25 at Minute Maid Park against the Astros on April 8. He’ll be tested in his next outing on Monday against Stephen Strasburg and the Nationals to kick off a two-start week.
