Oddsmakers from online sports book RealBet.eu currently list the Astros and Nationals as 12/1, respectively, to win the World Series. After qualifying for the postseason for the first time since the lost the World Series in 2005, Houston acquired potential closer Ken Giles from the Phillies and re-signed left-hander Tony Sipp to a new three-year deal. Washington’s big move this offseason was signing Daniel Murphy to a three-year, $37.5 million contract.
3 & 2. San Francisco Giants and Boston Red Sox
The Giants and Red Sox are both listed at 10/1, respectively, to win the World Series this season. San Francisco completely rebuilt its pitching staff over the winter, signing free agents Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija to big deals. The Giants also recently signed free agent Denard Span, who will play centerfield this season and push Angel Pagan to left. Boston also made a huge splash on the free agent market, landing David Price on a seven-year, $217 million contract.

The Cubs have the best odds to win the 2016 World Series at 7/1. Their big signing was outfielder Jason Heyward, who spent last season with NL Central rival St. Louis before heading to the Windy City this winter. The Cubs also signed former Cardinal pitcher John Lackey and added the versatile Ben Zobrist. Thanks to Heyward and Zobrist, as well as Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant and Kyle Schwarber, the Cubs have the potential to employ one of the best offenses in baseball this season.
