Pirates’ Kuhl roughed up by Nationals in last start
Chad Kuhl was touched up for six runs – four earned – across 4 2/3 frames Tuesday versus the Nationals. Kuhl served up four home runs on the night. All of them were hit by left-handed batters, and Kuhl has regressed versus lefties this year after starting to show progress against them down the stretch last season. The big velocity remains tempting, but Kuhl is too inconsistent to trust in fantasy leagues right now. He gets the Brewers on the road Sunday.
Brewers’ Anderson struggles vs. Cincinnati in last start
Chase Anderson was charged with four runs on six hits and four walks over 5 1/3 innings but managed to pick up a win in Tuesday’s 7-6 victory in Cincinnati. He moved to 3-2 on the season, but Anderson probably wishes he could forget this one. The righty was handed a 3-0 lead before taking the mound but gave it right back in the bottom of the first. The four walks for Anderson were a season high. He’ll try to bounce back against the Indians the next time out.
MLB Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are 2-5 in their last seven games against the Brewers and have dropped 70 of their last 96 meetings with the Crew in Milwaukee.
Milwaukee
The Brewers are a perfect 5-0 in Anderson’s last five starts versus the Pirates and are 4-1 in his last five home outings against Pittsburgh.
Prediction:
Both of these pitchers are coming off rough outings in their last starts and I see Sunday’s matchup resulting in some struggles for Kuhl and Anderson as well. The over is a perfect 6-0 in Kuhl’s last six starts overall, is 5-1 in the Pirates’ last six games coming off a loss, and is 5-2 in Kuhl’s last seven starts on Sunday.
