Pirates vs. Rockies Prediction
Will the over cash today for bettors when the Pirates visit the Rockies at 3:10PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Rockies are -111 money line favorites to beat the Pirates, who have odds of -109 to pick up the win today. With Juan Nicasio set to face Tyler Chatwood in the pitching matchup, the over/under is sitting at 11 runs.
Bet Today’s Pirates vs. Rockies Game
Nicasio is 2-2 with a 4.50 ERA, which really stands out given how much batted-ball luck he’s had thus far (.260). His biggest issue right now is his high walk rate (4.95). He issued four intentional passes in his last outing (a loss to the Diamondbacks) and also surrendered five walks in a loss earlier this season to the Tigers. In all, Nicasio has allowed 11 walks in just 20.0 innings of work.

Chatwood has been merely average through 23.1 innings pitched. He’s 2-2 with a 3.47 ERA, a 4.04 FIP and a 3.68 xFIP. Unlike Nicasio, Chatwood’s 1.54 walk rate is excellent but his 6.17 strikeout rate is poor. He’s coming off his shortest outing of the season, allowing three runs on six hits over four innings of work in a loss to the Dodgers at April 23.
OUR PREDICTION: With Nicasio having issues with free passes and Chatwood struggling to get outs via the strikeout, today’s game should have plenty of action on the base paths. More base runners mean more opportunities for both of these teams to rack up runs, which they should do today.
