The pitching matchup today has Ubaldo Jimenez (3-4, 6.64 ERA) on the mound for Baltimore to face Kyle Gibson (5-6, 5.82) of the Twins. Jimenez hasn’t been very good this season, outside of an occasional strong start. He has allowed 58 earned runs in 78.2 innings and has 69 strikeouts with 38 walks and a 1.50 WHIP. Gibson has poor numbers for the year, allowing 50 earned runs over 77.1 innings of work. He has 50 strikeouts with 36 walks and a 1.72 WHIP.

The Twins have won two of the first three games in this series, but the Orioles picked up a 5-1 win yesterday in Minnesota. The Orioles are now 41-46 overall and 16-30 on the road while Minnesota is 45-42 overall and 20-27 at home.

Saturday’s game saw the Baltimore pitching step up. Wade Miley went 5.2 innings and allowed just one run while the bullpen pitched 3.1 innings and allowed just one hit. Adalberto Mejia took the loss for the Twins, allowing four runs in 6.2 innings. Jonathan Schoop and Mark Trumbo both homered in the win and each drove in two runs for Baltimore. Miguel Sano hit his 21st home run of the season for the lone Minnesota run.

Bet on Orioles vs. Twins

Neither pitcher inspires much confidence today, but Gibson has actually been trending toward some competitive starts for the Twins. Of his last eight starts, Gibson has allowed three earned runs or less in seven of them. If he can manage another outing like that today and get through six innings, that should be enough. The Twins should be able to hit Jimenez, who has allowed a handful of runs in most of his starts.
