Brewers vs. Pirates Prediction

Will tonight’s Brewers and Pirates matchup at 7:05PM ET turn into yet another pitcher’s duel between the two teams?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Pirates are -155 money line favorites to knock off the Brewers, who have odds of +135 to pull off the upset in Pittsburgh. With Juinor Guerra set to face Ivan Nova in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 9 runs.

From Rotoworld: Brewers manager Craig Counsell expects Guerra (shin) to return Tuesday against the Pirates. Guerra still needs to throw a bullpen session but if that goes off without a hitch, he should be ready to roll Tuesday in Pittsburgh. At that point, he’ll have missed the minimum 10 days. Guerra suffered a bruised shin after taking a comebacker off his right leg July 7 against the Yankees. Milwaukee’s Opening Day starter has collected a 4.78 ERA in 10 starts this year.

Nova held the Cubs to two runs over 6 2/3 innings in a win Saturday. Nova was even better than his line suggests, allowing only three hits and a walk while striking out six in his 6 2/3 innings of work. The problem was, two of those hits left the yard when Ian Happ and Kyle Schwarber hit back-to-back homers in the fourth inning. Otherwise, the 30-year-old was brilliant, hitting the break on a high note. Nova is 9-6 with a 3.21 ERA and 1.09 WHIP through 18 starts overall.
