Braves vs. Nationals Prediction
Will Max Scherzer and the Nationals dominate the Braves tonight at 7:05PM ET tonight?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Nationals are -275 money line favorites versus the Braves, who have odds of +235 to pull off the big upset. With R.A. Dickey set to face Scherzer in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 8 runs.
From Rotoworld: Dickey held the Athletics to just one run in six innings to help his squad take home a 4-3 victory on Saturday. He had to settle for a no-decision as the Braves didn’t plate the winning run until the ninth inning. Dickey allowed six hits and three walks while striking out four batters in the ballgame. The veteran knuckleballer has been excellent in his last three outings. Overall he is 6-5 with a 4.44 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 16 starts. He has 62 strikeouts and 39 walks in 97 1/3 innings.
Scherzer was in dominant form again on Sunday, striking out 12 over seven shutout innings in a victory over the Cardinals. The star right-hander allowed just two hits and two walks in the impressive outing. It’s the 59th time in his career that he has struck out 10 or more hitters. Scherzer now boasts a scintillating 1.94 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 163/26 K/BB ratio across 120 2/3 innings on the season. He’ll conclude his masterful first half of the season on Friday against the Braves.
OUR PREDICTION: The Nationals are 6-1 in Scherzer’s last seven starts against the Braves, who are just 5-24 in their last 29 games in Washington and 15-36 in their last 51 contests versus the Nationals. The Nats are also 4-1 in Scherzer’s last five home starts, are 37-18 in his last 55 outings overall, and are a perfect 7-0 in his last seven starts after scoring two runs or less in their previous game.
