From Rotoworld: Corbin allowed two runs on five hits over six innings in Thursday’s loss to the Cardinals. The Cardinals won by a 10-4 final, but that score was not indicative of how Corbin pitched — eight of those 10 runs scored after he had left the game. The 28-year-old southpaw struck out six and walked two on the afternoon while allowing only a two-run single by Jose Martinez in the fourth to mar the scoreboard on his watch. While Corbin holds an unimpressive 4.76 ERA and 1.51 WHIP for the season as a whole, he has pitched well in his last two starts, allowing just three runs in his last 12 2/3 innings of work. He will try to keep this little roll going when he hits the road to take on the Dodgers next time out.
Kershaw pitched brilliantly in Thursday’s 6-2 win over the Angels, striking out 12 while allowing one run over seven innings. Kershaw scattered three hits and walked two in the sparkling performance. The only run to score in his seven innings of work came when Albert Pujols hit an RBI fielder’s choice in the fourth inning. This was Kershaw’s fifth start with double-digit strikeouts. Over the course of 116 1/3 innings this season, the ace southpaw has pitched to a Cy Young-worthy 2.32 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 135/20 K/BB ratio. A home start against the Diamondbacks shows next on his schedule before the Dodgers head into the All-Star break
