From Rotoworld: deGrom won his eighth consecutive start Monday in San Diego, allowing two runs with five hits and two walks while striking out eight batters over eight innings. DeGrom is on some kind of roll, moving to 12-3 while lowering his ERA to 3.30. He has posted a tremendous 1.61 ERA during the eight-game run, posting seven quality starts with 12 walks and 58 strikeouts over the past 61 2/3 innings. His next scheduled start is set for Saturday in Seattle opposite Yovani Gallardo.
All three runs Gallardo surrendered over five innings in Sunday’s loss to the Yankees came on solo home runs. Gallardo allowed a leadoff homer to Brett Gardner in the first inning, a solo homer to Didi Gregorius in the second and yet another solo dinger to Gregorius in the fourth. The veteran right-hander struck out five and walked three while scattering five hits over his five innings of work. He was briefly demoted to the bullpen near the end of June, but with Sam Gaviglio heading down to Triple-A, Gallardo has been moved back to the rotation. He will bring a bloated 5.58 ERA and 1.49 WHIP into a home start against the Mets in his next scheduled outing.
