From Rotoworld: Kershaw did not pitch deep enough to qualify for a decision in Sunday’s 9-4 win over the Cubs, surrendering four runs on 11 hits over 4 1/3 innings. Kershaw struck out six and walked two on the afternoon. Willson Contreras knocked him for a solo home run in the first inning, with Javier Baez and Anthony Rizzo following suit in the fourth inning. Rizzo’s was a two-run shot. This start marked a number of worsts for Kershaw this season, including shortest outing and most hits allowed. The four runs surrendered tied the most he has given up in a start. The ace southpaw will look to move past this when he carries his 2.37 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 78/10 K/BB ratio (76 1/3 innings) into a road start against the Brewers next time he toes the rubber.
Nelson was dominant in Sunday’s victory over the Diamondbacks, striking out 10 over seven innings of one-run ball. Nelson scattered seven hits on the afternoon and didn’t walk a batter. The only damage against him came on an RBI double by Chris Iannetta in the fourth inning. Now 3-3 on the season, Nelson will carry a 3.85 ERA and 1.35 WHIP into Friday’s start against the Dodgers. While inconsistent, he has shown flashes of brilliance this season and is worth a look as a matchup play or streaming option in mixed leagues.
