Monday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – The Colorado Rockies are now looking up at the San Francisco Giants in the NL West standings, but the two teams meet in a brief two-game series starting Monday at Coors Field with first place hanging in the balance.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Giants a -143 favorite and the Rockies a +133 underdog in the contest. The over-under is set at 7.5 for the 8:40PM EST start.
Two-time Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum will toe the hill for San Francisco. He has a 3-3 record and a 2.11 ERA so far this season. Opposing him will be Colorado’s Clayton Mortensen, who has a 0-0 record and a 0.55 ERA. According to the latest trends, Lincecum has an 8-5 record with a 3.19 ERA in 16 starts against the Rockies. Mortensen sports a 0-0 record and a 1.80 ERA in three appearances (one start) versus the Giants.
Elsewhere in the National League, the St. Louis Cardinals send Jake Westbrook to the mound at home against Cliff Lee and the Philadelphia Phillies at 8:10PM EST. The Phillies are -131 favorites and the over-under is set at 7.5. The Los Angeles Dodgers are home against the Milwaukee Brewers at 10:15PM EST. The Brewers are -112 favorites, while the over-under is currently 7.
In the American League, the Detroit Tigers are riding a seven-game winning streak as they host the Toronto Blue Jays at 7:05PM EST. The Tigers are -145 favorites and the over-under is 8. The Tampa Bay Rays are -136 favorites and the over-under is 8 at 6:40PM EST when they host the New York Yankees.
