Sunday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – A sweep could be in the cards for the Boston Red Sox Sunday night, but not if the rival New York Yankees have anything to say about it. That is the nightcap on a day filled with 15 MLB games.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Red Sox -120 favorites in the contest and the host Yankees are +110 underdogs. The over-under is set at 8.5. Play begins at 8:10PM EST.
Red Sox ace Jon Lester gets the start on the road and he comes in with a 4-1 record along with a 2.96 ERA. The Yankees turn to Freddy Garcia, who has a 2-2 record to go with a 2.61 ERA. According to the latest MLB trends, Lester is 6-1 with a 3.28 ERA in his career versus the Yankees. Garcia sports an 8-2 record and a 4.44 ERA in 17 appearances (16 starts) against the Red Sox.
Elsewhere in the American League, the Detroit Tigers have won seven in a row as they get set to complete their home series against the Kansas City Royals at 1:05PM EST. The Tigers are a -180 favorite and the over-under is 8.
The Texas Rangers host the Los Angeles Angels at 3:10PM EST. The Rangers are -131 favorites and the over-under is 8.5.
Over in the National League, Roy Halladay and the Philadelphia Phillies are away at the Atlanta Braves for a 1:35PM EST start. Roy Halladay gets the start for the Phillies and Tim Hudson goes for the Braves. Philadelphia is a -117 favorite and the over-under is 6.5.
