(The Spread) – Two American League pitchers having a great deal of success this April will duke it out Monday night as the Oakland Athletics play at the Los Angeles Angels, one of nine games on the MLB schedule.
Los Angeles’ Jered Weaver is perfect this month, winning all his starts as he is a stellar 5-0 with a 1.23 earned run-average. He will get the call Monday for the Angels, while the left-handed Gio Gonzalez starts for Oakland. Gonzalez sports a 2-1 record and a 1.80 ERA in four starts.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Angels a -150 favorite and the Athletics a +140 underdog. The over-under is set at 6.5. Game time is set for 10:05PM EST.
According to the latest trends, Gonzalez is 3-1 with a 3.29 ERA in five career starts versus the Angels. Weaver is 3-6 with a 3.45 ERA in 15 career starts against Oakland.
In other American League action, the New York Yankees open a home series with the Chicago White Sox at 7:05PM EST. The Yankees are -185 favorites and the over-under is set at 10. Texas hosts Toronto at 8:05PM EST, where the Rangers are -145 favorites and the over-under is listed at 9.5.
Over in the National League, the Florida Marlins are -140 favorites at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers at 7:10PM EST with an over-under of 8. The Chicago Cubs are home to face the Colorado Rockies at 8:05PM EST. The Cubs are -125 favorites, while the over-under is not yet determined.
Philadelphia has Cliff Lee on the mound at Arizona, while the hosts counter with Ian Kennedy. The Phillies are -150 favorites for the 9:40PM EST start, while the over-under is currently 8.
