DETROIT, MI (TheSpread) – The Detroit Tigers are slowly losing sight of the AL Central and now the team looks like it will be without Miguel Cabrera for the next few weeks.

Cabrera suffered a calf strain during Friday’s 8-6 win over the Toronto Blue Jays and the team is now saying they aren’t optimistic that they can keep him of the disabled list for the first time in Cabrera’s playing career.

“I’m not optimistic at all,” Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said of keeping Cabrera of the DL. “When Miggy says he can’t play, it is serious, because Miggy plays through everything.”

According to oddsmakers at GTBets, the Tigers are currently listed with 18/1 odds to win the World Series in 2015. The St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Nationals are co-favorites at 7/1 to win. The Tigers have 17/2 odds to win the ALCS.

Cabrera is having another solid season for the Tigers, batting .350 with 15 home runs and 54 RBI. It was just a few seasons ago that Cabrera won the triple crown when he had a .330 average with 44 home runs and 139 RBI in 2012. Cabrera has had at least 100 RBI in every season since his rookie year in 2003 and he has batted over .300 for his last seven seasons.
