Kansas City Royals vs. Baltimore Orioles 6/8/16 MLB Predictions

O’s eye another win over wounded Royals

If the participants can prevent themselves from throwing down in fisticuffs, today’s Orioles-Royals matchup should make for a highly competitive baseball contest.

The two teams square off at 7:05 p.m. ET, or roughly 22 hours after the nation watched as a brawl unfolded at Camden Yards. Handicappers at online sports book BetDSI prefer the hosts to take the series finale, whereas the defending World Series champs are considered +136 underdogs. The over/under figure holds steady at 8.5 runs.

Very few people cared to dissect the finer points of Baltimore’s 9-1 triumph last night. Instead, the masses zeroed in on that fracas in the fifth, which Kansas City’s Yordano Ventura initiated by beaning Manny Machado in the lower body. The Orioles’ star shortstop then charged the mound, prompting a flurry of punches from multiple parties.

Ned Yost’s club clearly didn’t benefit from the donnybrook. The Royals dropped their sixth straight and fell 2 ½ games behind Cleveland in the AL Central race. Edinson Volquez (5-5, 4.03 ERA) attempts to play the role of stopper later. He’s just 2-5 with a 5.51 ERA since April 26.

On the other side, Chris Tillman (7-1, 3.33) keeps soaring. Buck Showalter’s lefty has captured his past six decisions and faces a Kansas City lineup in turmoil. Don’t expect salvation to arrive until the battered bunch returns to Kauffman Stadium next week.
