Chicago Cubs DFS SPIN

Cubs optioned INF Miles Mastrobuoni to Triple-A Iowa. With Nick Madrigal (hamstring) returning from the injured list on Saturday, there was no room left on the bench for the 27-year-old infielder. He’ll bide his time at Triple-A until he’s needed once more.

St. Louis Cardinals DFS SPIN

Dylan Carlson finished 0-for-4 against the Cubs on Saturday. Carlson started hitting the ball harder in June, but whatever led to that vanished quickly and he’s hit just .182 with one extra-base hit this month. If the Cardinals keep all of their outfielders at the trade deadline, then Carlson might wind up spending some time in the minors down the stretch. He’s just not giving the team reason to play him right now.

Cubs vs. Cardinals MLB BETTING PREDICTION

I’ll gladly take the plus odds with the Cubs. After a brief hot stretch following the All-Star break, the Cards are a mess again. They’ve lost three in a row and four out of their last five, including the first three matchups in this series. Speaking of which, they’ve scored three, two and one run in the first three games of this series, so their dangerous offense has gone flat again. Perhaps the Cards are in a funk with the MLB trade deadline coming on Tuesday and they know many of their teammates will be playing for other teams in a few days. Regardless, the Cubs are hot and have owned their NL Central counterparts this season. Give me Chicago.
