Red Sox’ Porcello allows three runs in just under eight innings

Rick Porcello gave up three runs in 7 2/3 innings on Sunday in a no-decision against the Rays.

Porcello allowed seven hits, and he walked none while striking out six on his outing. The 2016 Cy Young winner has pitched well to begin the season, and outside of a rough third and fourth inning, he was effective against the Tampa Bay lineup. He’ll be back on the mound on Friday in Texas against the Rangers

Rangers’ Colon holds Blue Jays to three runs over seven

Bartolo Colon limited the Blue Jays to three runs on six hits over seven innings in a win Saturday. Colon gave up a pair of solo homers among his six hits allowed, but he helped himself by not issuing a walk in the outing. Colon also struck out a pair in the win. It was actually his first win of the year despite pitching well nearly every time out — through Saturday, Big Sexy has a strong 2.87 ERA and 0.86 WHIP over 31 1/3 innings of work this year.
