Hernandez drives in winning run

Pinch hitter Gorkys Hernandez drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning last night to send the Giants to a 1-0 victory over Arizona. Joe Panik was 1-for-3 with a walk in the triumph. Steven Duggar was 0-for-3 with a walk and scored the game’s only run. Nick Hundley ended the contest 2-for-4. Will Smith picked up the win in relief as he threw a perfect top of the ninth inning.

Ahmed, Marte have two hits each

Ketel Marte was 2-for-4 with a double, while Nick Ahmed also finished 2-for-4 to combine for four of the Diamondbacks’ six hits in the game. Paul Goldschmidt was 1-for-3 with a walk, while David Peralta added a pinch-hit single. Brad Ziegler took the loss in relief as he allowed one earned run on one hit with a walk in one-third of an inning.

Zack Godley (13-7, 4.59 ERA) will start today for Arizona, while San Francisco counters with Dereck Rodriguez (6-1, 2.30).

MLB Betting Trends

Arizona

The D-backs are 3-12 in their last 15 Wednesday games. The under is 5-2-1 in the last eight Arizona road games.

San Francisco

The under is 7-2 in Rodriguez’ last nine starts overall. The Giants are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings.

Prediction:

Godley hasn’t pitched well his last two starts, but previously had been in really good form and could very easily turn it back around tonight. Rodriguez has been a revelation as a rookie for the Giants and is facing a struggling Arizona offense. This is a park made for pitching and I think it safely stays under the projected total again tonight.
