Diamondbacks vs. Angels Prediction
The Arizona Diamondbacks lost yesterday, but still have a 1.5-game lead in the NL West standings. Can Arizona pad that lead as it begins a series tonight at the Los Angeles Angels?

D-backs split with Mets
Arizona won the first two games of its four-game home series with the New York Mets over the weekend, but lost on Saturday and Sunday to only get a split. Brad Boxberger blew the save in yesterday’s 5-3 loss as he surrendered four earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and a walk in two-thirds of an inning. Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run to pace the offense. Jake Lamb was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Daniel Descalso walked three times.
Angels edged by A’s
Los Angeles lost the last two games of its three-game series at Oakland, dropping a 6-5 decision in 11 innings on Sunday. Ian Kinsler was 2-for-6 with a double and a run at the top of the LA lineup. Mike Trout finished 2-for-2 with two walks and a run. Albert Pujols was 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Chris Young added a solo home run in five at-bats. Jake Jewell took the loss in relief.
Zack Greinke (5-5, 3.87 ERA) gets the start today for the Diamondbacks, while Jaime Barria (5-2, 2.61) will go for the Angels.
MLB Betting Trends
Arizona
The over is 7-3-1 in the last 11 D-backs games overall. Arizona is 7-3 in its last 10 games overall.
Los Angeles
The Angels are 7-3 in the last 10 meetings. The under is 13-2-2 in the last 17 Los Angeles interleague games.
Prediction:
Both teams are coming off two straight losses, but Arizona was at least playing fantastic baseball prior to the defeats and really should have won three out of four against the Mets. Greinke has struggled lately, but he’ll be in a pitcher’s stadium here and has a tendency to right the ship quickly after a poor start. I’m going to take the slight plus money here and go with an Arizona team I still feel is playing pretty well despite the last two games.
