Are the Angels a good underdog play tonight when they visit the Rays at 7:10PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Rays are -114 money line favorites versus the Angels, who have odds of +104 to pull off the upset in Tampa. With Matt Shoemaker set to face Alex Cobb in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 8.5 runs.

Shoemaker allowed four runs — three earned — over 6 1/3 innings and struck out nine in beating the White Sox on Wednesday. Shoemaker topped his season high in strikeouts by two. He’s fanned 50 in 50 1/3 innings overall. There’s been a few too many walks and homers so far to give him a strong ERA — he’s currently at 4.47 — but things should get better. (Rotoworld)
Cobb allowed three earned runs over seven innings Wednesday in a win over the Indians. It was a pretty good start overall for the crafty 29-year-old right-hander, who struck out seven and issued just one walk while moving to 4-3 on the season. He gave up two RBI doubles and one RBI single. One of the RBI doubles was Bradley Zimmer’s first career major league hit. Cobb will carry a 3.67 ERA and 1.24 WHIP into tonight.

OUR PREDICTION: The Angels are a perfect 4-0 in the last four games against the Rays and 4-0 in their last four games in Tampa. They’re also 4-1 in Shoemaker’s last five starts, are 5-1 in his last six outings when facing a team with a losing record, and are 6-1 in his last seven starts when he pitches the second game of a series. The Rays, meanwhile, are 2-6 in Cobb’s last eight starts when their opponent allows two runs or less in their previous game and 1-5 in their last six home games versus a team with a road winning percentage of less than .400.
