According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Red Sox are set as a -210 favorite to win on the moneyline. The Athletics are a +180 underdog and the over-under is 10.

He holds a 5.17 road ERA in nine starts. In his last start, he gave up one earned run on five hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over six innings in an 11-1 win at home over the Astros. He allowed two earned runs on two hits with seven strikeouts and two walks over six innings in a 9-3 home win over the Rays his last start. Pomeranz carries a 3.24 ERA in 14 home starts.
Oakland is 64-81 on the season and 22-48 on the road, while Boston comes in at 82-63 and 45-28 at home. The season series is tied 2-2 and the total has gone over three times.
On Wednesday night, the Athletics earned a 7-3 victory to even the series at a game apiece. Jed Lowrie was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Matt Olson hit his 18th home run, a two-run shot. Jharel Cotton allowed three earned runs over five innings to pick up the win. Dustin Pedroia was 3-for-4 with a run for Boston. Andrew Benintendi was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Jackie Bradley Jr. added a solo home run. Doug Fister took the loss as he gave up six earned runs in four innings.
If the Athletics’ season on the road holds true, there won’t be a repeat performance in the series finale. Pomeranz has a high strikeout rate and Oakland strikes out at a very high clip. Hard to fathom that the Red Sox would lose a series at Fenway Park to the Athletics. We’re taking Boston here.
