Astros’ 2015 Season Odds

HOUSTON, TX (The Spread) – After winning just 70 games a year ago, will the Astros top that total in the 2015 MLB regular season?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Astros’ over/under for number of wins in the regular season is currently sitting at 74.5. As previously mentioned, Houston only won 70 games in 2014, but that showed marked improvement from the three previous seasons when the club won 51, 55 and 56 games, respectively.

The Astros are also 50/1 long shots to win the 2015 World Series and have long odds at 28/1 to win the AL Pennant as well. Houston is the favorite to finish last in the AL West at 16/1, as the Angels (8/5), Mariners (8/5), A’s (9/2) and Rangers (6/1) all have significantly better odds to win the division.

This offseason the Astros welcomed new manager A.J. Hinch as well as new faces Jed Lowrie, Evan Gattis, Colby Rasmus, Hank Conger, Dan Straily, Luke Gregerson, Pat Neshek and Luis Valbuena. Gone are former skipper Bo Porter, outfielder Dexter Fowler, catcher Carlos Corporan and right-handed pitcher Michael Foltynewiz.

While the team failed to address its starting rotation this offseason, Houston did bolster the pen with the additions of Neshek and Gregerson. With the continued development of youngsters Dallas Keuchel and Collin McHugh, the starting rotation (led by veteran Scott Feldman) could still be in decent shape. Another productive season out of right fielder George Springer and first baseman Jon Singleton and the offense could be relatively decent as well.
