Rangers favored in 2011 World Series
(The Spread) – With play set to begin on Wednesday, the Texas Rangers find themselves favored over the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2011 World Series.
While most of the times for the Fall Classic are yet to be determined, Wednesday’s Game 1 will start at 8:05PM ET in St. Louis. Oddsmakers have already made the Cardinals a –120 money line favorite in that game, although the Rangers are favored to win the entire series at –160. St. Louis, meanwhile, is a +140 money line underdog to win the championship.
C.J. Wilson will take on Chris Carpenter in Game 1 on Wednesday. Wilson has had a rocky postseason thus far and has yet to pick up a win. He took the loss in Game 1 against the Rays in a nasty 9-0 loss, and then earned a no decision on October 8 and a loss on October 13 in the ALCS versus the Tigers.

On the other side, Carpenter has been masterful in the postseason. He’s 2-0 over his last two games, which includes a complete game shutout against the Phillies in Game 5 of the NLDS and a 4-3 victory over the Brewers on October 12. He also pitched a complete game shutout against the Astros in Houston the night the Cardinals clinched the NL Wild Card.
Game 2 of the World Series is set for Thursday night in St. Louis before the series shifts to Texas on Saturday, October 22 for Game 3. The Rangers will also host Game 4 on Sunday, October 23 and Game 5 on Monday, October 24 (if necessary). Times and pitching matchups have yet to be determined past Game 1 on Wednesday.
