Rangers shut out on two hits

Texas lost by a score of 8-0 Friday night at Oakland for its sixth straight defeat. Shin-Soo Choo and Delino Deshields were both 1-for-3 to account for the two Rangers hits. Mike Minor took the loss as he gave up six earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and four walks over five innings. Brock Burke will start tonight for Texas as he enters with an 0-1 record, 5.19 ERA And 1.31 WHIP plus 14 strikeouts over 26 innings.

Fiers throws eight shutout frames

Oakland won in shutout fashion for a second straight game Friday night as it rolled to an 8-0 home victory over Texas. Mike Fiers threw eight shutout innings to notch the win as he allowed two hits with five strikeouts and no walks. Mark Canha helped lead the A's offense as he went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs. Chad Pinder went 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs. Ramon Laureano finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Sean Manaea gets the start tonight for Oakland as he comes in with a 2.0 record, 0.50 ERA and 0.67 WHIP plus 21 strikeouts over 18 innings of work.

MLB Betting Trends

The Rangers are 17-35 in their last 52 games versus a left-handed starter. Texas is 0-7 in its last seven games versus the AL West.

The Athletics are 7-2 in the last nine Manaea home starts. Oakland is 10-4 in its last 14 Saturday games.

Manaea has come back like gangbusters from his arm injury and I don't expect much to change tonight as he's usually very good at home while the Rangers tend to struggle against left-handed pitching. With the A's bats likely to get to Burke plus the bullpen, I'm going to take a shot at the runline bet here.
