Rangers heating up

After a long losing streak, Texas seems to be getting back on track. It has won three of its last four thanks to a 5-2 win over Oakland last night. The Rangers are 53-51 on the season, 22-30 on the road and 53-49 with the under. Adrian Sampson gets the start tonight. He is 6-7 on the season with a 5.19 ERA.

The Rangers used some solid pitching throughout the game to get the win on Friday. Lance Lynn threw six innings and allowed just one earned runs to get his 13th win of the year while the bullpen threw three scoreless innings. Asdrubal Cabrera led Texas at the plate with three hits and two RBI while Willie Calhoun had two hits and two RBI.

Athletics drops another

Oakland has lost five of its last six after the Athletics have dropped the first two games in this weekend series. Oakland is 58-47 on the season, 31-22 at home and 55-50 with the under. Homer Bailey is getting the start for the Athletics this evening. He is 8-7 on the year with a 5.42 ERA.

Daniel Mengden struggled in his start on Friday, giving up four runs and four walks over 5.1 innings. He falls to 5-2 on the season. The Athletics had just five hits for their two runs on Friday night. Mark Canha had two hits, with a double, and drove in one of the two runs while Ramon Laureano also drove in a run for Oakland.

MLB Betting Trends

Texas

The Rangers are just 3-9 in their last 12 overall and 2-6 in their last eight against winning teams.

Oakland

The Athletics are 7-1 in their last eight Game 3’s of a series and 6-2 in their last eight home games.

Prediction:

Bailey is set to make his third start with Oakland since coming over from KC. His first two starts have seen him give up 11 runs over eight innings. Sampson has struggled in extended starts, giving up 11 runs over his last two starts. Both pitchers are struggling coming into the game, but Bailey hasn’t really looked good all year, with KC or Oakland. Given the recent trends, I am going to take my chances on the Rangers on the road once again.

MLB Prediction: Texas Rangers +150
