Mariners continue slide

Seattle is coming off a 6-3 loss to the Angels on Sunday and the Mariners have lost seven of their last eight games. The Mariners are 39-58 on the season, 20-29 on the road and 60-33 with the over. Seattle has Marco Gonzales getting the start today. He is 10-7 on the season with a 4.24 ERA.

The Mariners are putting up 4.99 runs per game for the season while hitting .241 as a team. On the mound, Seattle has a 5.26 ERA as a team with a 1.45 WHIP. Domingo Santana is leading the team with 19 doubles, 19 home runs and 64 RBI. Daniel Vogelbach is adding 11 doubles, 21 home runs and 51 RBI.

Athletics on a win streak

The Athletics have won four straight and six of their last seven following a sweep of the White Sox at home this past weekend. Oakland is now 53-41 overall, 29-20 at home and 49-45 with the under. The Athletics have Daniel Mengden getting the start tonight. He is 4-1 on the year with a 4.73 ERA.

Oakland has been in the top third of the league in both hitting and pitching. The Athletics average 5.14 runs per game while hitting .248 as a squad. On the mound, Oakland has a 3.99 team ERA with a 1.26 team WHIP. Matt Chapman is leading the team with 24 doubles, 21 home runs and 54 RBI. Marcus Semien is adding 22 doubles, 14 home runs and 49 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Seattle

The Mariners are 9-28 in their last 37 road games and 5-16 in their last 21 games following an off day.

Oakland

The Athletics have won six of their last seven series openers and nine of their last 11 games following an off day.

Prediction:

The Athletics have been rolling, but we can’t say the same about Mengden. He has given up 14 runs over his last 19.1 innings on the mound. Luckily for him, Seattle is in a funk right now and without its most productive bat after trading him to New York. Gonzales has been steady, but still gives up multiple runs in each start. He has a solid 2.57 ERA against Oakland in three meetings, but I don’t trust his bats or bullpen to help him out. I will go with the Athletics to rally late for the victory.

MLB Prediction: Oakland Athletics -175
