Athletics on a roll

Oakland is coming off a nice series win at home over the Minnesota Twins. The Athletics have won seven of their last nine games coming into the weekend. Oakland is now 48-40 on the season, 22-20 on the road, with a 45-43 mark with the under. Brett Anderson gets the start for Oakland today. He is 8-5 on the season with a 3.92 ERA.

The Athletics have been pretty steady on the mound and at the plate this year. Their pitching staff has a 4.06 team ERA with a 1.27 team WHIP. Offensively, Oakland is putting up 5.08 runs per game while posting a .248 batting average. Matt Chapman is leading the team with 22 doubles, 21 home runs and 52 RBI. Marcus Semien is adding 20 doubles, 13 home runs and 46 RBI.

Mariners on a slide

Seattle is coming off back-to-back losses at home to the Cardinals. The Mariners have lost six of their last seven games coming into the weekend. Seattle is now 38-53 overall, 18-27 at home and 57-30 with the over. The Mariners have Yusei Kikuchi getting the start this evening. He is 4-5 on the season with a 5.12 ERA.

The Mariners have one of the league’s worst pitching staffs, as they have a 5.19 team ERA with a 1.45 team WHIP. At the plate, Seattle has been pretty good with 5.13 runs per game while hitting .243. However, those numbers have been declining since trading away Edwin Encarnacion. Domingo Santana is leading the team with 18 doubles, 18 home runs and 63 RBI. Daniel Vogelbach is adding 11 doubles, 20 home runs and 49 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

The Athletics are 6-1 in their last seven road games against a left-handed starter and 17-5 in their last 22 road games.

The Mariners are 5-15 in their last 20 games against a left-handed starter and 7-19 in their last 26 AL West games.

Seattle has been a bit of a train wreck over the last month and today they have a struggling starting pitcher. Kikuchi has given up three runs or more in eight of his last nine starts. Oakland is rolling and they have a good arm on the mound today. He is coming off 7.2 scoreless innings against the Angels. Anderson has a 3.65 in two starts against Seattle, both of which came against a stronger lineup than what the Mariners currently have.

MLB Prediction: Oakland Athletics -150
