Marlins drop fourth straight

Miami lost by a count of 5-2 Thursday afternoon at Washington to drop to 32-53 overall and 17-24 on the road. Miguel Rojas helped pace the Marlins offense as he went 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Starlin Castro finished 3-for-5 with a double. J.T. Riddle was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Elieser Hernandez took the loss as he gave up three earned runs on five hits with six strikeouts and one walk over 4 1/3 innings. Jordan Yamamoto draws the start today for Miami as he enters with a 3-0 record, 2.35 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 23 strikeouts over 23 innings.

Braves double up Phillies

Atlanta rolled to a 12-6 home win Thursday night over Philadelphia to improve to 52-36 overall and 26-18 at home. Dansby Swanson helped lead the Braves offense as he ended the game 3-for-5 with two home runs, a double and five RBIs. Josh Donaldson went 1-for-5 with a solo homer. Freddie Freeman was 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two runs scored. Ozzie Albies finished 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two runs and three RBIs. A.J. Minter picked up the win in relief as he struck out one in a perfect inning of relief. Julio Teheran gets the start today as he comes in with a 5-6 record, 3.99 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 85 strikeouts over 94 2/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Miami

The Marlins are 22-50 in their last 72 road games. Miami is 4-0 in the four Yamamoto starts at the MLB level.

Atlanta

The Braves are 12-3 in their last 15 home games. Atlanta is 19-7 in its last 26 games overall.

Prediction:

Yamamoto was awesome his first three starts before struggling last time out. While I think he has the ability to slow down the Atlanta offense some, I can't expect him to completely shut down a red-hot offense. He also might not get much run support here. All signs point toward Atlanta in this contest.
