Marlins’ Straily strikes out seven in no-decision vs. Giants
Dan Straily struck out seven Giants’ hitters over five innings in a no-decision on Thursday afternoon. The right-hander allowed three runs on three hits and a walk over his five frames. All of that damage came via the long ball, with Andrew McCutchen belting a two-run homer in the first inning and Mac Williamson adding a solo shot in the second. Straily has struggled to find consistency this season and now boasts a 4.23 ERA and miserable 1.41 WHIP. He’ll try to get back in the win column in a rematch against the Giants on Tuesday in San Francisco.
Giants’ Rodriguez logs quality start vs. Marlins in last outing
Dereck Rodriguez logged a quality start in a no-decision against the Marlins on Thursday, allowing just two runs on seven hits over his 6 2/3 innings of work. The 25-year-old hurler punched out four on the afternoon and didn’t walk a batter. He didn’t give up a run until J.T. Riddle’s solo shot in the fifth inning, and gave up an RBI single to Bryan Holaday before he departed in the seventh. Still, he left in line for a victory, but the Marlins’ bullpen was unable to oblige. He’ll carry a 4.34 ERA and 1.55 WHIP into another matchup against the Marlins at home on Tuesday.
MLB Betting Trends
Miami
The Marlins are 0-4 in Straily’s last four starts overall.
San Francisco
The Giants have dropped six of their last eight games after blowing a win in the ninth last night.
Prediction:
The Giants were up 4-2 on the Marlins heading into the top of the ninth on Monday night Hunter Strickland blew the save and Miami went on to win 5-4. There’s no reason to go against the Fish tonight seeing as how the Marlins are 5-0 in their last five games played AT&T Park and are now 9-2 in their last 11 games versus the Giants overall. They own the Giants.
The Pick: Miami Marlins +148
