Chicago Cubs DFS SPIN
Matt Mervis finished 0-for-3 in the loss to the Padres on Saturday. One wonders if the Cubs might send Mervis back to Triple-A for a spell. He’s batting .179/.257/.284 in 74 PA, he’s merely alternating starts with Trey Mancini at the moment and he’s probably going to sit out each of the next three games with the Cubs facing three consecutive lefties. After all, he still hasn’t gotten a start against a southpaw since he was called up. We’re sure Mervis will pick it up if given a chance, but the Cubs using all of these players every other day isn’t doing anyone any good.
San Diego Padres DFS SPIN
Xander Bogaerts is likely to get at least Sunday off because of wrist soreness. He came out of Saturday’s game in the eighth inning. While Bogaerts can play through the soreness, the Padres are clearly thinking about putting him on the injured list in an effort to get him back to 100 percent. He’s been on the IL just three times as a major leaguer and the last of those was due to COVID. The Padres would use Ha-Seong Kim at short and give Rougned Odor more time at second if Bogaerts lands on the IL.
