View Real-Time Sports Betting Odds
UFC on FOX 4 will take place from the Staples Center with the main card bouts airing live on FOX at 8PM ET.
The main event of Saturday’s card has former light heavyweight champion, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (20-6) taking on Brandon Vera (12-5). According to oddsmakers, Rua is the favorite in this bout, as he has a money line of -350 to win, while Vera has odds of +280 to prevail. This is somewhat of a surprising main event, as Vera is just 1-2-1 in his last four fights, yet there has been talk that the winner of this bout will be the new No. 1 contender. Shogun is 1-1 since losing the title to current champ, Jon Jones, and he has an aggressive striking and submission game that could be trouble for Vera. Vera likes to use muay thai striking, but his skills are not up to par with Rua. Vera’s best bet is to win this fight with takedowns, something he is not used to.
In the co-main event, another pair of light heavyweights meet as Ryan Bader (14-2) faces Lyoto Machida (17-3). According to oddsmakers, Machida is the favorite to win, as he has odds of -320, while Bader has a money line of +260. This bout actually should be more of a No. 1 contenders match as Bader has won two straight, including a win over Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Machida is just 1-3 in his last four, but still considered one of the best in the weight class due to his karate style of fighting. The key to his bout is simple. If the fight stays standing, Machida will win. If the fight gets to the ground, Bader will get the nod.
