Update: Big Drama
As the 134th running of the Preakness draws closer, Big Drama’s odds have dramatically dropped from 16/1 to 9/1.
When oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL set the opening odds for the 2009 Preakness, Big Drama was a mid-range long shot at 16/1. But his odds have since dropped dramatically, down to 9/1 as post time continues to draw near.
Perhaps part of the reason Big Drama opened at 16/1 is because he didn’t race in the Kentucky Derby and hasn’t raced since March 28 at Gulstream Park because of a bone bruise. But the more bettors review Big Drama’s race history, the more they must like what they see.
The 3-year old colt hasn’t raced in a month and a half, but he placed second at the Swale S. on March 28 and had won five races coming into that outing. Big Drama is now expected to challenge favorite Rachael Alexandra, who is 8/5 to win the Preakness.
The 2009 Preakness Stakes takes place today at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. For complete odds see below, and for general information about this year’s race, be sure to check out our 2009 Preakness Stakes Viewing Guide.
