Tom’s Ready Kentucky Derby Odds
After finishing as the runner up in the Louisiana Derby, Tom’s Ready will look to build off that momentum when he takes on the field in the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.
The Odds: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Tom’s Ready is a 30/1 long shot to win on Saturday. Nyquist remains the favorite at 3/1, while Exaggerator is 8/1 and Creator, Mohaymen and Gun Runner are both 10/1, respectively.
A Snapshot: In nine career starts Tom’s Ready has just one win but has finished second four times. Owned by G M B Racing and trained by Dallas Stewart, Tom’s Ready’s is a natural closer with a pedigree of More Than Ready – Goodbye Stranger, by Broad Brush. He’s earned $302,220 throughout his career ($33,580) and will be ridden by jockey Brian Hernandez Jr. on Saturday.

BETTING OVERVIEW: One of the biggest reasons not to sleep on Tom’s Ready is Stewart, who has trained three different runner-ups in Triple Crown races over the last three seasons. Under Stewart’s watch, Golden Soul placed second in the 2013 Kentucky Derby while Commanding Curve took second in 2014 Kentucky Derby and Tale of Verve was a runner-up in the 2015 Preakness. A true sleeper because of his ability to close late, as long as Tom Ready can sift through the traffic on Saturday he could be an option for exacta and trifecta bettors.
