USA vs. Spain Women’s BB Pick
The United States women’s basketball team looks to lock up another gold today when they face Spain in the gold medal game at the Rio Summer Olympics.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the U.S. is a -12500 favorite to win the game straight up, while Spain is getting +2000 odds. The spread for the contest has the U.S. as a -23.5-point favorite against Spain. Today’s gold-medal game takes place at 2:30PM ET from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The United States have continued to dominate on the international stage, going 5-0 in pool play with a winning margin of 204 points. They already picked up a 103-63 win over Spain during the qualifying portion of the Olympics. They won their first six games of the Olympics by at least 26 points before topping France 86-67 in the semifinals a few days ago.
Spain hasn’t lost at the Olympics outside of the thrashing it took from USA. They have a +54 point differential in pool play, but then edged Turkey in the quarterfinals, 64-62. In the semifinals, Spain downed Serbia, 68-54.
What is most impressive about the U.S. win over Spain from earlier is that Spain actually shot 50 percent from 3-point land (7-for-14) and still lost by 40. The Americans had a 46-32 edge in rebounding and also had five blocked shots. The U.S. shot 41-for-75 from the floor in the win and could get any good look they wanted. With this being for the gold, don’t look for the United States to hold anything back. They should win and win big once again.
